About Us
Brent Advocacy Concerns is an organisation of Disabled People run by disabled people for disabled people. We were set up as a consortium in 1988 and became an organisation of disabled people in 1996.
We are committed to providing most types of advocacy.
Our coordinator Richard Downes supports one to one advocacy with a strong volunteer team. Much of this is provided by disabled people so Peer Advocacy is well covered in Brent. Self Advocacy Development Worker, Sedley Bryden, facilitiates Speaking Up For Yourself In Brent, a forum of self advocacy groups for people with learning disabilities. David Hunt, our housing advocate, provides a specialist advocacy service as does Co Wright our multimedia advocate
Our management committee is responsible for deciding the issues we dedicate our collective advocacy resource to. We support CAWRB The Coalition Against The Welfare Reform Bill.
